On Wednesday, October 12th we hosted our Open House during the week of Fire Prevention. October is Fire Prevention month and the second week in October is dedicated as Fire Prevention Week. During this week we hold an open house for members of the community to visit our station to meet our personnel, see our equipment up close, see live demonstrations, and participate in some of the things firefighters do at an emergency scene.
This year our Open House featured equipment from the Chester County HazMat Team, a High Water vehicle from West Whiteland Fire Company, a heavy wrecker from Null's Towing, a mini tow truck from Miller's Towing & Automotive, a street sweeper from Downingtown Public Works, and a police car from Downingtown Police Department. We'd like to thank each of these organizations and their personnel for attending our event.
The Smokin' Duck partnered with us as our official food vendor for those that attended. We thank them for offering their amazing food to our visitors and their generous donation to our fire company.
Wawa of Boot Road donated coffee for our event. Thank you to the staff of store #245 for the donation.
Guests in attendance had the opportunity to use a hose line to extinguish a mock fire and use our forcible entry prop to force open a door. These were the highlights of many in attendance.
Thank you to members of the community and representatives from Downingtown Borough Council for attending our event. We look forward to hosting you again next year! |
