The Downingtown Fire Department, consists of the Alert Fire Company No.1 and the Minquas Fire Company No.2. We are a volunteer fire department providing fire, rescue, special fire police and EMS services to the Borough of Downingtown, East Caln Township and surrounding municipalities.
The application located below must be fully completed and submitted to the fire company. A check for $10 made payable to the Minquas Fire Company, No.2 must accompany the application. The $10 non refundable fee covers a Pennsylvania Criminal History and Driving Record Check. Knowledge of an applicant’s background and past history is important to maintain the integrity of the volunteer fire service and to maintain the confidence of the public that is being served.
You can stop by any Wednesday night between 7:00 and 9:00 to submit your application or to meet with an officer about volunteer opportunities. We are always looking for people to fill roles both on the active and administrative side. No experience is required and we pay for all your training upon completion of either Fire or EMT school.
The application process is as follows:
· Application is submitted to Minquas Fire Company, No.2.
· Review includes background, criminal history, and driver’s record check. A pass/fail of the background investigation is indicated.
· Fire Company then votes on the application for membership.
· The applicant is notified as to the status of their application.
